Is Hostinger Good for a Business Website? An Honest Look

Hosting reviews tend to be written by people who signed up for a month to write the review. We host a fair share of our client sites on Hostinger and have done for a while, which means we see it on ordinary Tuesdays and on the days something goes wrong. That is a different sort of opinion, and it is the one below.

The short answer

For most small and medium business websites — a brochure site, a WordPress site, a modest WooCommerce store — Hostinger is genuinely good value, and the gap between it and hosting costing four times as much is smaller than the price difference suggests. For a high-traffic store, an application with heavy database work, or anything where an hour of downtime has a number attached to it, you should be looking at managed hosting built for that, and paying accordingly.

What you actually get on the cheap plans

The headline prices are introductory and assume you pay for several years up front. That is worth knowing before you budget, because renewal is meaningfully higher. What the entry plans include that used to cost extra elsewhere:

• Free SSL, issued and renewed automatically. There is no reason to pay for a certificate on an ordinary business site.
• Daily or weekly backups depending on plan. Check which you are on. Weekly is not enough for a store.
• A staging environment on the higher shared plans, which is the single most useful feature for anyone who updates their own WordPress.
• Email on your domain, though the included mailbox allowance is modest.
• A control panel that is genuinely easier than cPanel for someone who is not a developer.

Where it is weaker

Three things, honestly:

• Shared hosting is shared. Under a real traffic spike you feel it. If your business has seasonal peaks, size the plan for the peak, not the average.
• Support is chat-first. It is responsive and usually competent, but if you want somebody on a phone at 3am, this is not that product.
• Renewal pricing. The first term is cheap and the second is not. Diarise the renewal date and re-negotiate or re-plan before it hits.

Who should pick it

Choose Hostinger if your site is a business presence rather than the business itself: a services company, a clinic, a consultancy, a restaurant, a small catalogue store. You will get performance that is fine for the job at a price that leaves budget for the things that actually bring customers, which is usually content and marketing rather than a bigger server.

Who should not

If you are running a store doing serious daily volume, an application with real concurrency, or anything under a compliance regime with specific hosting requirements, buy the hosting that is built for it. Saving a few hundred a year on infrastructure is a false economy the first time it costs you a day of orders.

One thing people get wrong

A faster host does not fix a slow site. We have migrated sites onto better hosting and seen the load time barely move, because the problem was four megabytes of uncompressed images and a page builder loading nine stylesheets. Hosting sets your floor. The site itself decides most of the rest. If speed is the goal, audit the site before you change the server.
